Sufi Vision is a creative project exploring the literature of the Koran, Sufi poetry and the works of Ferdowsi. This series offers an exploratory interpretation of the three main literary pillars of Iranian culture and history. This project creates a visual narrative that breaks away from the censorship of Islamic law, which forbids the publishing of any imagery related to Islam. Sufi Vision depicts a series of inspired imagery, from the mythical arrival of Gabriel as he whispered to Mohammad, to Fatima’s rise as an angel. This project utilizes modern Iranians as models to create a conversation about the ancient narratives that still influence present-day Iran and the static versus dynamic nature inherent to the tales.
